Vukko ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Vukko mobile application. Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the app.

    Important: Vukko is intended for use by parents and caregivers. The app is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
  

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly when using the app:

Account information: Email address and display name (when signing in with Google)
Baby profile: Baby's name, date of birth, gender, weight, height, and avatar
Activity data: Feeding logs (breastfeeding, bottle), diaper changes, sleep records, vitamin intake, and solid food entries
Health data: Vaccination records and growth history
Reminders: Custom reminder settings and notification preferences

We do not collect payment information, location data, or any data not listed above.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the core functionality of the app
To sync your data across devices (cloud mode only)
To send local notifications and reminders you configure
To improve the app based on general usage patterns

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sell it to third parties.

3. Data Storage

Cloud mode (Google Sign-In): Your data is stored securely in Google Firebase Firestore. Each user's data is isolated and accessible only by the authenticated account owner. Firebase security rules ensure no other user can access your data.

Guest mode: All data is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and never transmitted to our servers.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Google Firebase (Auth & Firestore) — authentication and cloud data storage. Firebase Privacy Policy

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings screen, which permanently removes all your data from our servers. Guest data can be deleted by clearing the app's local storage or uninstalling the app.

6. Your Rights (GDPR - EU Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:

Right to access — request a copy of your personal data
Right to rectification — correct inaccurate data
Right to erasure — delete your account and all associated data
Right to restriction — limit how we process your data
Right to data portability — receive your data in a portable format
Right to object — object to processing of your data

7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, and opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at vukko.app@gmail.com.

8. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Vukko is designed for parents and caregivers, not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The baby data entered in the app (name, date of birth, health records) is entered by and belongs to the parent/caregiver user. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.

9. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information. Cloud data is protected by Firebase security rules that enforce user-level access control. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
